4 Anticipatory Set How can you make your topic interesting to the students? It could be a question to make them think It would be a short puzzle It could be an overhead cartoon that relates What other ideas have you seen teachers do?

5 What is an Objective? 1. Assign: tells the student what is to be learned or mastered in an assignment 2. Assess: objectives tell the teacher if additional study is needed to master an objective What does the student need to know and be able to do?

6 Examples of objectives

7 Lesson The information needed to teach the objective The What and the How’s Assign State Standards to Lesson Use different strategies for the different learning styles in your classroom

8 Strategies How are you going to get the students to do your objective? –It can be group work –Lecture –Games –Activities –Projects –Any other ideas that work!

9 Assessment Also known as Review –Did the students meet the objective? –How do you know they met the objective? –Sometimes you can just review the information that you gave the students to remind them of what they learned

10 Closure This is the end of the lesson where you debrief with your student, connect lesson to the next day, assign homework, clean up, etc.

11 Reflection A section of your lesson plan where you may make notes after you have taught the lesson. What you would keep the same and what you would change? This will be tremendous help when you evaluate your curriculum for the next year.

12 Timing Always be sure to have enough time for your activities. You don’t want to have too much time, or not enough. To help you with this, it is a good idea to put how much time you want to spend on each activity in the margin of your lesson plan.
