1 Nutrition -------Stella Chen - carbohydrates - fibre - fats - protein - vitamins - minerals (dietary) - water

2 carbohydrates provide energy for humans and animals, make up many plant structures. Two Types of Carbohydrate -simple (starches) found in refined sugars, Eg: fruit and milk. -complex. (sugars) include grain products, such as bread, crackers, pasta, and rice.. Unrefined grains are rich in fiber, which helps your digestive system work well.

3 Fiber(fibre) carbohydrates that cannot be digested. Found in the plants. Eg: fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes. 2 types : - Soluble fiber - Insoluble fiber Soluble fiber dissolves in water and has been shown to lower cholesterol. Insoluble fiber helps with constipation.

4 minerals help your body grow, develop, and stay healthy. from building strong bones to transmitting nerve impulses.bonesnerve 2 kinds of minerals 2 kinds of minerals 1.macrominerals calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium, potassium, chloride, and sulfur. 2. trace minerals. it needs just a tiny bit of each one. includes iron, manganese, copper, iodine, zinc, cobalt, fluoride, and selenium.

5 Fats the brain and nervous system develop correctly.brainnervous system Eg: nuts, oils, butter, and meats like beef. 3 Types -Unsaturated fats: good for heart health, are found in olive tuna, and salmon. -Saturated fats: are found in meat and butter, cheese. Can raise blood cholesterol levels and increase the risk of heart disease.cholesterolheart disease -Trans fats: are found in margarine, snack foods, baked goods, can raise cholesterol and increase the risk of heart disease.

6 Vitamins Your body needs them to work properly, each one has a special role to play. two types : - Fat-soluble vitamins : stay stored in your body special carriers take them to where they're needed. Eg: Vitamins A, D, E, and K - Water-soluble vitamins travel through bloodstream. It comes out when you urinate (pee). Eg: fruits, vegetables

7 Protein best sources: beef, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy products, nuts, seeds, builds up, maintains, and replaces the tissues in your body. whether you're running or just hanging out, it is moving your legs, moving your lungs, and protecting you from disease.

8 Water makes up more than half of your body weight and a person can't survive for more than a few days without it. is also in lymph, helps you fight off illness. is the main ingredient in perspiration, also called sweat.sweat each cell depends on water to function normally.
