Influenza Pre-Booking – Process starts in January/February each year – CVP must pre-book doses off CDC contract – Once an order is pre-booked, the order CANNOT be changed – Pre-book is based off several factors, most importantly flu doses distributed in previous years – CVP orders doses using both state and federal funds – Orders usually start arriving for distribution to providers sometime in early August 3

Flu Formulations -Both pre-filled syringes and single dose vials are made available to providers -Only thimerosal-free formulations are provided through the CVP -The CVP pre-books products from several different manufacturers to safe guard against any shortages or delays 4

Eligibility Criteria for Flu Vaccines Flu Vaccine is provided universally for all children 6 months through 59 months old Flu vaccine is provided for VFC-eligible children 5-18 years old VFC eligible children: -uninsured -Medicaid enrolled -underinsured -Alaskan Native/American Indian 5

Nationally approximately 142 million doses have been distributed thus far Manufacturers are expected to produce between 171-179 million doses this flu season 2014-15 approximately 148 million doses were distributed nationwide 2015-16 Flu Distribution 6

Flu Requirements & Coverage Rates for Connecticut In 2010, Connecticut implemented an influenza vaccine requirement for all children 6–59 months attending child day care centers, group day care homes, or family day care homes. The influenza requirement expanded in 2011 to include all children aged 24-59 months enrolled in a preschool program. After implementation of the influenza requirements, vaccination rates among Connecticut children aged 6-59 months increased from 67.8% in 2009-10 to 84.1% by 2012-13. 8

Pentacel Delay CVP notified on November 30 th of manufacturing delay Delay is expected to be resolved by July 2016 Each month Connecticut will receive approximately 70 % of our historical Pentacel usage 12
