1. What is the G.C.S 1. The Cummins Generator Drive Control System (GCS) is a computerized control system used to control a Full Authority Electronic (FAE) engine. The control uses the magnetic pickup (MPU) input as a speed reference and controls fuel pump, fuel rail, and timing rail pressures to maintain a steady engine speed. 2. The GCS is supplied with an engine on a base to an assembler who adds an alternator and a voltage regulator to create a complete generator set. 3. G-Drive engines are used in any application where a Cummins FAE engine is operating an alternator to produce an AC output voltage. 4. The GCS module monitors and controls only the engine parameters. The alternator warnings and shutdowns must be controlled by a separate voltage regulator assembly.
