STEP 3A DEVELOP PORTFOLIO PORTFOLIO REQUIREMENTS: DUE AUGUST 5 delivered in hand, in class. Compile print outs of what you read and write through the summer. TWO Categories: 1) Non Fiction Readings 2) Journal Column Responses DO NOT STUFF THESE in MY SCHOOL MAIL BOX!

OPTION 2 CATEGORY 1(C1): READING: Non fiction reading & language study For EACH of your TWO selected texts, complete the following assignments: CATEGORY 2(C2): For EACH article, complete a Journalist Columnist Response form. See following page 4 TEMPLATE for format.

STEP 4: CATEGORY 2 (C 2) Related Articles: For EACH summer reading text, (PORTFOLIO CATEGORY 1) collect a current event article (PORTFOLIO CATEGORY 2) that relates to an issue in the text you selected and read.. Copy or print out the piece. Read and annotate it. Place it in your portfolio. For EACH article, complete a Journalist Columnist Response form. See following page 4 TEMPLATE for format.

STEP 5: College board account If you do not already have one, create a login and account with Collegeboard.com

Summer project value Satisfactory completion by Aug 5 th required for eligibility in AP English Discussion board participation (option 1 and option 2 depending on your choice) is mandatory to satisfactory completion Portfolio is mandatory to satisfactory completion Scores for summer project count towards Q1 grades

Tips for success Start on time Follow timelines and deadlines Select your readings and order or borrow them ASAP Use CN style for reading journal Use post its Be courteous and courageous on the discussion board
