The social media campaign for the 2014 Pennsylvania Report Card on Twitter was seen by 40,475 people, was clicked on 2,281 times, created 56 retweets, and 18 replies. SOCIAL MEDIA

OUTREACH PLAN IDEAS Section/Branch Activities Ask members to share the Report Card via social media on their personal network, especially LinkedIn and alumni community groups (YM groups can be especially helpful with this) Make sure the Report Card is on all your Section and Branch websites in a prominent location and keep Report Card messages in your newsletters for a few months Put “Tell Legislators” buttons on the websites so members can easily share the Report Card with state and federal leaders Consider having Section leaders write op-eds or articles for technical journals in response to current events Encourage members to visit with legislators (Report Card in hand) through scheduled office visits, ‘back home’ visits and/or town hall meetings Present on the Report Card at a Section dinner meeting and invite local officials to attend Participate in a State Legislative Day Consider purchasing billboards or creating special Engineer’s Week displays Get involved with Policy Institutes (check local Universities) Speaker Circuit Activities Establish a statewide speakers circuit to have representatives available to speak to legislators, media, stakeholder groups and kids (STEM programs) Create materials that are appropriate for formal and informal audiences Train a new group of volunteers on the Report Card Offer to hold lunch-and-learns for staffers of elected officials Legislative Activities Establish an event series on infrastructure in conjunction with other stakeholders Create a “Raise the Grades” Legislative Action Plan connecting the Report Card recommendations to steps legislators can take
