How to create a new Configuration Training documentation ‘06 | 8 Notes 8

How to create a new configuration Option Add record Give the access to a popup window to design the statistics configuration Training documentation ‘06 | 9 Notes 9

How to create a new configuration Pop up window to fill global parameters of the configuration 5 tabs Configuration Dictionary Statistics Alarms Schedule The button Apply is used when all parameters have been set Training documentation ‘06 | 10 Notes 10

How to create a new configuration Configuration tab To specify the Name of the configuration To specify a Comment concerning this configuration Leave the Dictionary name blank, that will be filled in at the next step Training documentation ‘06 | 11 Notes Parameters of this tab The Configuration represents the “process” to activate in order to produce statistic results. A configurations consists in a calculation matrix. Its name can be different from the Statistic session that will be produced (see Statistics tab description). 11

How to create a new configuration Dictionary tab Choose the dictionary (protocol specific) to be used by selecting a session in the list Use the choose dictionary from selected session to confirm the previous selection Training documentation ‘06 | 12 Notes Parameters of this tab The Dictionary will be used by the system: - to display the list of fields usable to design the filters - to display the list of sessions on which this ProTraq Configuration could be applied. 12

How to create a new configuration Statistics tab To give a name to the output statistic session To specify the session storage duration (1 to 15 weeks) To specify the periodicity of the statistic (30s / 1mn / 5 mn / 15 mn / 30 mn / 1 hour / 1 day / 1 week) Training documentation ‘06 | 13 Notes Parameters of this tab The Statistic session indicates the name of the result session. For more coherence, it is recommended to keep the same name that the one given to the Configuration. The Session duration for the session means the duration for the storage of the results of the KPIs (1 week to 15 weeks, by default, it is 5 weeks). The Statistic period for the session means the frequency of the generation of results (by default, it is 5 minutes). 13

How to create a new configuration Alarms tab To specify Alarm period (30s / 1mn / 5 mn / 15 mn / 30 mn) Periodicity to check if thresholds are reached To specify an Implicit record count: means the minimum number of xDRs used to calculate a ratio expressed in percent. This is a constraint to trigger an alarm when the threshold is reached The Alarm termination is constrained check box allows to apply the same constraint to clear the alarms Training documentation ‘06 | 14 Notes Alarms global parameters - Implicit record count means the number of xDRs processed by the line where is defined the threshold. This is considered as a default value, and can be replaced by customized values for each threshold. 14

How to create a new configuration Schedule tab Check the Activate schedule box to be able to specify the parameters of the task Define the date and time for the begin Define the date and time for the end Specify the frequency of the schedule task and select the days when to perform the schedule task Training documentation ‘06 | 15 Notes This feature can used to switch between two protraq everyday : 1 one used during the day and an other during the night. Really usefull if you are using threshold in you ProTraq configuration. Indeed the traffic threshold is higher during the day than the night, the alarm threshold should then be ajusted. 15

How to create a new configuration > Configuration > ProTraq : list of the configurations T o access to the design of a configuration (View/Change function) To apply a configuration (Apply function) If a relation has been defined between the configuration and one or several input sessions To modify the main parameters of a configuration Select the configuration and use the button Edit Record To remove a configuration Select the configuration and use the button Delete Record Edit record Delete record Training documentation ‘06 | 16 Notes 16

How to create a new configuration Main design window Corner filter Column filter Line filter Training documentation ‘06 | 17 Notes New configuration A configuration is defined by a table with a corner filter, lines and columns. When a new configuration is created, the table is empty. 17

How to create columns filters Simple data counter column To count all the data for each line Select Simple data counter column type Give a name to the column Give a comment Apply Training documentation ‘06 | 30 Notes Usage of Simple data counter This kind of counter counts all xDRs matching simultaneously with the Corner filter and the line filter. The data can be number of transactions, number of calls, etc. 30

How to create columns filters Simple data counter column The column has been added Training documentation ‘06 | 31 Notes 31

How to create columns filters Filtered data counter column To count only the data matching with the filter for each line Select Filtered data counter column type Give a name to the column Configure the filter Use the button Filter Apply Training documentation ‘06 | 32 Notes Results produced by a Filtered data counter This kind of counter gives the number of xDRs matching simultaneously with the Corner filter, the Line filter and the Column filter. The filter can count, for example, the number of successful transactions, the number of answered calls, the number of xDRs with a specific cause value, etc. 32

How to create columns filters Filtered data counter column The column has been added Training documentation ‘06 | 33 Notes 33

How to create columns filters Cumulative counter column To add some fields values for each line Durations, number of packets or MSUs, volumes of data, … Select Cumulative counter column type Apply When the pop up window opens (see next page) Give a name to the column Give a comment Specify if this counter is applied on specific data Create the filter to be applied Select fields to add Specify the way to count Add Keep the lowest value Keep the highest value If necessary specify a scale Training documentation ‘06 | 34 Notes 34

How to create columns filters Cumulative counter To apply this counter on specific data Fields to count How to count To change the scale of the result Training documentation ‘06 | 35 Notes Specific parameters for Cumulative counter - Use a filter option allows to count only for xDRs selected from the current line filter matching with an other filter. - Be careful to check only fields which have a link together: no verification is done by the system, which makes it possible to add fields having different dimensions! - Modifying the scale for a results allows to display results easily readable. But this must be done carefully if the results is processed by a Column Ratio: a Cumulative counter indicates the total duration of calls for a destination. By default, this results is expressed in milliseconds. It’s easier to read such a duration in minutes, and the scale option makes it possible to display the results in minutes. If the previous result is used to calculate an average duration of conversation, it is possible to divide this duration by the number of answered calls. The result will then use the same scale (the minute). The Column ratio feature produces an integer result. So, if the average value (the result of the ratio) is less than 1 minute, the results of the division will be “0” (zero). 35

How to create columns filters Cumulative counter column The column has been added Training documentation ‘06 | 36 Notes 36

How to create columns filters Columns ratio column To calculate the ratio between the results of 2 columns The result is an integer The result is 0 if the division result is inferior to 1 Select Columns ratio column type Apply Training documentation ‘06 | 37 Notes 37

How to create columns filters Columns ratio column Give a name to the column Select column to be used as numerator (Value) Select column to be used as denominator (Reference) If necessary check the box Express result as a percent to express result in percentage This parameter cannot be changed later Training documentation ‘06 | 38 Notes 38

How to create columns filters Columns ratio column The column has been added Training documentation ‘06 | 39 Notes 39

How to create columns filters To create columns automatically Use the function Automatic column It opens a popup window Same configuration then for the function Automatic line Training documentation ‘06 | 40 Notes 40

How to create columns filters To move columns Select the column to move to the right or to the left Use the arrows in the cell containing the column name This operation isn’t possible when the configuration is active See Advanced work chapter for more information To move the column to the left or to the right Training documentation ‘06 | 41 Notes 41

How to configure alarms thresholds Configure threshold for alarms events No thresholds : no alarm Select one or several cells in the table Use the button Edit to specify the thresholds Set parameters for Minor and/or Major alarm event Possibility to configure the parameters to set off the alarms For result is expressed in percentage Training documentation ‘06 | 44 Notes 44

How to configure alarms thresholds 2 kinds of alarms Alarms on numeric values Number of calls, transactions… Average results (processed by a Ratio column) Alarms on percentage Processed by a Ratio column between 2 values with the same unit 2 kinds of processes For threshold on numeric value: Alarm is always raised if the threshold is reached Alarm is always cleared if the result becomes “normal” (threshold not reached) For threshold on percentage: Alarm is raised only if a minimum number of records and the threshold are reached Alarm can be always cleared Alarm can be cleared only if a minimum number of records and the threshold are not reached Training documentation ‘06 | 45 Notes Parameters for thresholds on percentage values The minimum number of records can be defined globally to the configuration (see Alarms tab in the chapter How to create a configuration) or customized for each threshold (see next page). An alarm on a percentage value can be cleared without conditions or can be cleared only if the minimum number of xDRs has been processed. This number is the same than the number specified to raise the alarm. 45

Advanced work - How to use TOP filtering - How to modify a configuration - How to import a file - How to use Static Enrichment feature Training documentation ‘06 | 56 Notes 56

How to use TOP filtering Top selection line To let the system check the values the most or the less observed for the selected fields Use the Top selection type First of all, give a name to the line filter in the Top selection tab Training documentation ‘06 | 57 Notes Top filter goals The top filtering features allow to identify automatically (by the system) occurrences of values in the processed xDRs based on 1, 2 or 3 fields. Example: identify the roamers origin based on their Update Location operation on MAP and on the IMSI part identifying their MCC and MNC. In this case, you must define the field(s) on which to process. If the corner filter identifies the operations and keep the Update Locations, it is possible to select only the field IMSI for the top selection. Example in slides In the example shown in the slides, the goal is to count the number of calls to specific destinations (name given to the Top line) according to the DPC used to carry the calls. 57

How to use TOP filtering Top selection line In the tab Fields, select up to 3 fields to calculate top values (combination of fields) If necessary select a sub-string on which to process According to the field type Use the button subString Training documentation ‘06 | 58 Notes Example in slides From the tab Field, select the 2 fields used for the top: - B_Number - DPC This means that ProTraq process will have to check the content of each xDR and create a new counter for each new couple of values. Then, will have to add 1 in the counter each time the same values are present in one xDR. It is possible to use a substring for some fields : keep only the first digits, keep last digits or a part into the string. 58

How to use TOP filtering Top selection line Substring configuration Offset Length of the string to keep after the offset Training documentation ‘06 | 59 Notes Example in slides In this example, the system will ignore the 3 first digits and keep the 10 next digits to process on. 59

How to use TOP filtering Top selection line Substring configuration To keep values from the left side of the string, specify the offset and the length of the string to keep E.g. to ignore the 3 first digits and keep 2 digits of a value In substring begin field specify 3 In substring length field specify 2 To start at the end of the string, specify a negative value E.g. to keep the 10 last digits of a value In substring begin field specify -10 In substring length field specify 0 (default value to keep all the digits from the first selected up to the end of the string) E.g. to ignore 4 digits from the end of the string and keep 5 digits In substring begin field specify -9 (i.e. 4+5) In substring length field specify 4 Training documentation ‘06 | 60 Notes 60

How to use TOP filtering Top selection line Specify the value for the top in the line Count of the Counters box Specify the Maximum number of different counters allowed to be opened Select the Column on which to process in Sorting box Select Highest (the most used values) or Lowest (the less used values) to be counted If necessary Use a filter to specify data to process on Apply Training documentation ‘06 | 61 Notes Example in slides Maximum number of counters means the number of possible couple of values: A / B is a couple, A / C is an other couple, B / C is a third possible couple. And so on. Here, a top 10 in a possibility of 10000 counters is set. Note that there is no necessity to have a bigger “Maximum” value. We can expect that Top 10 values will be present at the start of the statistic period, before 10000 counters have been opened. the TOP is made on the Call Attempts counter. This means that the result will show the TOP 10 of B_Number / DPC for all calls of the column Call Attempts (Highest values is also checked). The filter possibility let the user define the kind of xDRs on which to process. It could be for example, to count on call attempts, but only when the B_Number (or any other field!) has or has not specific values. 61

How to use TOP filtering Field value column To display the value of an xDR field (if there is only one recording corresponding to the filter of the line) To display the value of a top field Select Field value column type Apply to open the configuration popup window Training documentation ‘06 | 62 Notes Example in slides The Top filter result will be displayed in as many lines as the number of opened counters, in the limit of the top specified in the configuration (parameter Count). In order to display the values found by the Top, it is essential to create Field value columns. 62

How to use TOP filtering Field value column Popup window to configure the field value column Training documentation ‘06 | 63 Notes Example in slides For a Field value columns, there are 2 solutions: - Select Top field radio button and specify the rank: according to the rank of the field in the Top line definition. In this case, the type of the column is a string. This means that it will not be possible to change the display format. However, if the sub string feature is used, Top field option will allow to display the exact substring that was processed. - Select Ticket field radio button and choose the field to use in the list box. In this case, the result will be displayed in the same format than the origin field. 63

How to use TOP filtering Field value column Give a name to the column Give a comment Select Top field Radio button To display a field selected in the top line configuration Specify the top field number The format cannot be customized in xDR Browser when the results are displayed Select Ticket filed List box Select the field to display The format can be customized in xDR Browser when the results are displayed Apply Training documentation ‘06 | 64 Notes 64

How to modify a configuration To modify a configuration Select the configuration to change from the configurations list If the configuration has been applied No possibility to add, remove, rename or move a column Possibility to modify all the queries used (Corner filter, lines filters or columns filters) Possibility to add, remove, rename or move lines Possibility to modify alarms thresholds Remove the configuration from the input list of sessions i.e. de-apply the configuration Only in case of column modification Use the function View/Change The configuration is displayed If the configuration was not yet applied Possibility to modify all the parameters of the configuration Training documentation ‘06 | 65 Notes 65

How to modify a configuration Apply function to set again on all input sessions In case of modifications on a configuration Allows to update the ProTraq matrix simultaneously on all input sessions i.e. all sessions on which this configuration is applied Training documentation ‘06 | 66 Notes 66

How to import a file To import a file Use the function File Import it opens a new screen Training documentation ‘06 | 67 Notes 67

How to import a file To import a file Browse to select a file Specify the dictionary If necessary give the password to access to the imported file The fse file name must not contain the space characters. If it is the case rename the file before to import it. Training documentation ‘06 | 68 Notes 68

How to import a file To import a file Display the configuration list Refresh the list by using the dedicated function Training documentation ‘06 | 69 Notes 69

How to use a Static Enrichment feature Import the enrichment file Select the Non-Protraq configurations list Use the function Configuration Others Training documentation ‘06 | 70 Notes Static Enrichment files creation The Static Enrichment files are based on a cross-reference and the definition of involved fields: input fields to check a value and an output field to be populated with a customized value. This file is created by using a basic text editor (be careful to avoid special characters in your file). See the dedicated document about the Static Enrichment for more details. 70

How to use a Static Enrichment feature To import a file Use the function File Import it opens a new screen Training documentation ‘06 | 71 Notes 71

How to use a Static Enrichment feature To import a file Browse to select a file (starting with a $) Specify the dictionary If necessary give the password to access to the imported file The space character can’t be used in the fse file name. Rename the file if needed. Training documentation ‘06 | 72 Notes 72

How to use a Static Enrichment feature To import a file Display the configuration list Refresh the list by using the dedicated function Training documentation ‘06 | 73 Notes 73

How to use a Static Enrichment feature Associate a configuration to an input session to process the enrichment Select the configuration in the list Use the function Show Child A new table is displayed on the bottom of the current screen Training documentation ‘06 | 74 Notes 74

How to use a Static Enrichment feature Associate a configuration to an input session From the Child view Use the function Add record Select the session(s) on which to apply the enrichment (popup window) Add record function IU_CS_CP_site2 IU_CS_CP_site1 Training documentation ‘06 | 75 Notes 75

How to use a Static Enrichment feature Activate the configuration to produce results Activate the enrichment for the various input sessions IU_CS_CP_site1 Training documentation ‘06 | 76 Notes Check the Static Enrichment results It is recommended to check, by using xDR Browser, that the xDRs are correctly populated according to the Static Enrichment configuration. 76

Hands-on practice In this exercise, you will have to: Prepare a ProTraq configuration based on an xDR dictionary Training documentation ‘06 | 77 Notes 77
