About ASME ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) aims to promote the art, science and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe. ASME is a not-for-profit membership organisation founded in 1880 by a small group of industrialists. ASME has more than 140,000 members in 151 countries. Approximately 30,000 of these members are students.
