1 Project aim: Contribute to the local economy and job creations by supporting the development of a sustainable catering sector through the provision of high quality training and business support. 2 Project objectives Jointly develop and disseminate common tools and methods to continuing education professionals to provide high quality business support and adequate training to the catering sector to: - Encourage business creation - Improve the competitiveness of the catering sector by supporting the development of high quality products and services - Contribute to the sustainable development of our regions by supporting the use of local products in the catering sector, thus reducing the food mile.

3 Project specific objectives: Phase 1: - understand and analyse the sector's evolution, needs and differences across the partner countries - identify the skills and competencies needed by the catering sector to improve the quality of the products and the service offered and thus improve its competitiveness - identify transferable good practices to support the creation and development of local catering enterprises

4 Project specific objectives: Phase 2: - meet the training needs of the sector by developing common training sessions and tools - develop a common model based on the best practices to support business creation and development in the catering sector - disseminate the project results to training professionals - move towards increased co-operation between the key stakeholders of the sectors: training organisations, companies and social partners

5 Project results Development of a long-lasting EU network of training professionals working with the catering sector (continuing education) Production of an analysis of the catering sector in the partner regions using one common methodology to ease comparison and analysis. The development of common training tools, methods and sessions The development of a shared model for business support The training of education professionals through personal exchange and experience exchange

6 What do we mean by "catering sector"? The caterer ("traiteur") is a skilled tradesman in the food sector, whose activity is based on: - the production of take-away meals (cold or warm meals, unique meals, desserts,…) and the sale of these products in its own shop. - the organisation and provision of food at events (weddings, family gatherings, business lunches and dinners, seminars, conferences, etc) in places other than restaurants. Caterers can have various activities and be: - solely caterers - Butcher / caterer - Delicatessen / Caterer - Fishmonger / caterer - Owner of a restaurant and caterer - Patisserie / caterer
