ANALYSIS CONTROL ELEMENT (ACE)
20
ACE ORGANIZATION Collection Management and Dissemination (CM&D)
All Source Production Section (ASPS) Electronic Warfare section (EW) Counter-Intelligence and Analysis Section (CIAS) Operational Security Section (OPSEC)
21
COLLECTION MANAGEMENT AND DISSEMINATION (CM&D)
Identifies what information must be collected and who collects it. Provides timely and efficient tasking. Answers the commanders PIR.
22
ALL SOURCE PRODUCTION SECTION (ASPS)
Performs Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield (IPB) Works with CM&D to develop SIRS and SORS. Assists the G2 in developing the Intel Estimate Develops situation and targeting data Provides demographics/area studies for Mission planning folders
23
ELECTRONIC WARFARE (EW)
Recommends and explains how to use EW to support the division Maintains a database of threat EW emitters SIGINT processing and reporting Primary SIGINT node at division Receives, processes and forwards SIGINT through the CM&D to ASPS and higher
24
COUNTERINTELLIGENCE ANALYSIS SECTION (CIAS)
Develops CI requirements Co-located with the asps CM&D tasks CI assets
25
OPERATIONS/OPSEC Works with G2 Performs OPSEC management functions
Implements commander’s OPSEC program OPSEC is EVERYONE’S responsibility
26
INTELLIGENCE REQUIREMENT (IR)
Requirement for intelligence to fill a gap in the commanders knowledge and understanding of the situation Reduce uncertainties on the battlefield Two categories: - PIR - Priority Intelligence Requirement - IR - Intelligence Requirement
27
PRIORITY INTELLIGENCE REQUIREMENT (PIR)
Associated with a decision that will affect the overall success of the command’s mission Only the commander designates G2 recommends PIR is usually in the form of a question Information is needed to answer the PIR
28
EXAMPLE PIR Will the 3rd Tank Division enter NAI 8 or
NAI 9 NLT lOCT00? “Who, what, when and where”
29
SPECIFIC INFORMATION REQUIREMENT (SIR)
Information required to answer all or part Of a PIR/IR Describes the information required, the location and time during which it can be Collected Each IR/PIR usually generates sets of SIRS
30
EXAMPLE SIRs Will more than 17 BRDM-2s subordinate
to the 3rd Tank Division or its regiments pass through NAI 8 between l- 030400l? Will more than 38 artillery weapons subordinate to the 3rd Tank Division enter NAI 8 or NAI 9 between l- 020300l?
31
SPECIFIC ORDER OR REQUEST (SOR)
Any order or request that generates planning and execution of a collection mission or analysis SORS sent to subordinate units are orders SORS sent to other commands are requests Developed from detailed SIRS Usually formed in SOR sets to answer one SOR
32
EXAMPLE SORs SOR 1a. Report the presence of BRDM
reconnaissance vehicles in NAI 8 or NAI 9 between l l (LTIOV: 021000l). SOR 1b. Report the presence of communications nodes associated with recon elements of the 3rd Tank Div in NAI 8 between l l (LTIOV: l).
33

in the ACE IR, PIR, SIR and SOR
