2 Parallel boxplots are made up of several regular boxplots. They are drawn up on a common scale so they can be easily compared. Parallel boxplots are used to display a categorical and a numerical variable. The categorical variable is NOT limited to 2 categories.

3 Drawing boxplots When drawing boxplots, you need to show and label: 1.Heading(s) 2.Scale 3.Minimum and maximum values 4.Q1, median, Q3 5.Outliers (Answers in the textbook will sometimes not show outliers. However, you must always show them.)

4 Commenting and comparing When you are asked to comment on the distributions or compare the distributions you need to talk about: – Median – Skew (if any) – Range or spread
