3
ADVANTAGES OF THE NEW TABLE This new table describes exact distribution of elements in its main body This new table is able to include Lanthanides and Actinides in its body In series, atomic radii increases with increasing atomic number Ionization potential decreases down the series ( i.e., with increases atomic number in a series) Here, always electron filling direction is Clockwise direction
4
ADVANTAGES OF THE NEW TABLE Contd., –In Lanthanides, crystal radii decreases along the square in clockwise direction starting with f 2 orbital –µ J increases from Yb +2 to Gd +3. In between GD +3 and Lu +3 show µ J = 0 –Binding energy decreases from La to Lu and in actinides the decrease is from Ac to Cm. –Bonding energy almost equal for outside actinides along clockwise direction. –There is actinide cnotraction (similar to that of lanthanides) from An +3 to An +4 –Crystal radius decraeses from La +3 to Lu +3 as well as Ac +3 to Cf +3
