2 Smiling faces of Bustee Welfare Centre

3  Bustee Welfare Centre (BWC) was started in 1968 by the Founder President Late Mrs. Sheila Davar to provide quality and meaningful education to the children from underprivileged section of the society  Co-Education School from Pre-Primary to Class-VII  Total 500 Children in current academic year  Free education, nutritious meal, health care and counselling services provided to the students 

4 Other Projects  Play- School attended by both Mother and Child  Adult Literacy Centre for women  Vocational Training Centre for youth

6  Long experience in running school  Experienced teachers and trained social workers  Further, students studying up-to Graduation level/ technical education also receive support  Continuous follow-up and individual attention to each student for their academic progress  Counseling services provided to the students and their parents in time of need  Approximately 10,000 boys and girls got benefitted through education and vocational training

7  Successfully implemented the sponsorship programme supported by Save the Children Fund for over 15 years  Good reputation of the school  English Medium has been initiated from Nursery to Class-III  Imparting vocational training courses in partnership with Lokshikshya Parishad- Narendrapur Ramkrishna Mission

9 Objectives:  To enable the children to finish their schooling without hindrances of shifting  To arrest drop-out rate at High School level  To provide education through English medium to develop self confidence and competence and to prepare for the job market

10 Plan:  Extend the school up to Xth standard  Build more class rooms, laboratory, toilets, library  Install more computers  Open space for P.T and outdoor activities  More trained teachers

11 Justification:  India witnessing rapid ageing of its population  In poverty stricken families least share of necessary amenities goes to elderly members  Health care needs are not catered adequately  No/ lack of access to Government sponsored social security schemes due to ignorance or lack capacity to avail those  Economic dependency

12 Objectives:  To provide care to the elderly  To enable them to be economically independent to meet their immediate personal needs  To help them to regain the sense of dignity

13 Plan:  To start a day care centre for the old age people living in city slums  Provide one nutritious meal a day  Provide them productive training and marketing of the products  Developing linkage with other old age service providers to access the benefit of their services  Provide hand holding support to access Government sponsored social security schemes  Recruiting trained attendant, trainer for vocational training and marketing of products

14 Expansion of the school up to Xth Standard with English as the medium  To avoid drop-out rate at High School level  To inculcate the feelings of confidence and make them competent for the job market To start a day care centre for Elderly people from impoverished families  To cater their basic needs  To provide support to make them economically less dependant on their family members

15 Bustee Welfare Centre endeavours to bring quality change in the lives of under privileged families
