Do you want your baby to stay a STALLION? This should always be the foremost question when a colt is born. Life on a property will revolve around the stallion, its hormones and idiosyncrasies that come with the testis in tact.

When is the Best time to Geld? ♦7 weeks while still on mum ♦6 months a month or two after weaning ♦12 months when they get a bit boisterous ♦2 -3 years so as to see what you truly have in body and most of all temperament

Is he registered and a credit to his breed and parentage? ♦Does he have registration? ♦How many registrations? ♦Is he sound in body and mind? ♦Is he better than mother or father or both? ♦Does his conformation fit with the breed standard he is registered with?

Handling from Birth Be halter broken at a young age Be handled and touched ALL OVER from birth Is not allowed to touch, move or speak without permission of handler Can be loved with respect only and by handlers choice Must have toys – basket ball, witches hats Should be kind when brushed, farrier and vet visits, shows, floating

First serving a young stallion ♦Set mare up with handler ♦Make colt stand back and wait ♦Teach him to tease the mare and where ♦Make sure that he is ready and the correct shape ♦Give him permission to mount ♦Give him encouragement and praise along the way
