3 INFORMATION SOCIETY IN MONTENEGRO How we started? 2001 as a ‘starting point’… Regulatory and institutional changes: Changes in regulation - adoption of the new Law on telecommunications (2001) New regulator – the Agency for telecommunications (2001) Privatization of the Telekom Crna Gora (2005) Its majority owner is Magyar Telekom (76.53%) From September 26, 2006 became part of the T family of Deutsche Telekom.

8 INFORMATION SOCIETY IN MONTENEGRO ICT usage among households and companies PC in households (38% households in Montenegro has PC) Younger population-as common users Older population not so interested for information literacy Business dependence on IT High rate of employees that use PC and the Internet Interested for new services (E-government)

9 STARTED WITH ONE, BUT TODAY… … we have three mobile phone operators (3G) … we have new five Internet providers … we still have one operator for fixed telephony … we have new licensed cable TV operators
