STOP #1 – THE MONADNOCK The Monadnock Designed by Burnham and Root Originally 4 separate buildings, each named after a New England mountain It was the first building in Chicago wired for electricity, and one of the first to be fire- proofed, with hollow fire clay tiles lining the structure so that the metal frame would be protected even if the facing brick were to be destroyed

STOP #2 – THE FISHER BUILDING Built in 1896 Its French Gothic style gives the structure a light, airy feeling. The Fisher Building was ready for occupancy six months and eleven days after the ground breaking.
