2. Artist Statement! I was born in NY and raised in Tampa and Citrus County, FL. I love to draw. I do not like to play with clay. I am a perfectionist so it is hard to get things how I want them when I am trying to sculpt my drawing. This year, I loved to play with the water color pencils! Thank you Mrs. Fau Faust for being a great teacher! I had a lot of fun this year!

3. The Artist That Inspires Me…..  Mary Ann Carroll is the only woman in the Highwaymen group. She was born in 1940. Her family moved to Fort Pierce, Florida when she was 8. While she was there she got the chance to watch Harold Newton paint. She was inspired by his work and joined a group of painters and brought a gifted way of looking at color. Her fist paintings were sold at the age of 18 and she went around the state selling them. She even brought a small gun to protect herself! She had to support her seven children after her husband left so she painted to earn money as well as her income from housecleaning. Her paintings are full of details and lots of colors. Her paintings show the wild and undeveloped energy of Florida.

4. This is my paint doodle which I titled “Head in The Clouds”.

5. “Gone Batty!” This is my batik which I had a lot of fun doing. I liked coloring it with the crayons and looking at the finished product.

6. My Gyo-Taku fish prints! The one on the right is called “Mr. Rainbow Fish” and the one underneath it is called “Mrs. Ladyfish”!

7. “Devon’s Starry Night!” This is my own starry night and it is my second artist proof. This one turned out the best as it was even and didn’t have too much ink and didn’t have that many smudges! It is also my take on “Starry Night” by Vincent Van Gogh.
