Objectives 1. You will be able to follow a set of instructions to produce a Power Point presentation. 2. You will be able to explain how Power Point can help in presenting but can also make the task more complicated if not used correctly.

Objectives~Continued You will be able to determine the audience and purpose of your Power Point. You will create and edit a Power Point, sequence the presentation and add or delete information as necessary to achieve desired effects.

Screen Design Consistent fonts, colors, background Summarize - no sentences – 7x7 rule 7 lines down (including title) 7 words across – Two extra facts for each bullet

Font Clear and easy to read – Comic Sans, not Rage Italic – Do not use ALL CAPS – No underline or italics Use bold or color to emphasize Size 24 or larger

Avoid Distractions Basic custom animations Subtle background Consistent fonts and colors Sound only when absolutely necessary – Let’s watch this with sound and see what happens!

Educational Purpose Communication is key-you are informing your audience! Know your audience Pictures and graphics – Support material – Simplify concepts

Begin a PowerPoint Click on PowerPoint icon in Novell Box Select “Create a blank presentation” Chose a layout You can type or insert pictures in the boxes Follow usual Microsoft procedures – Colors – Fonts – Pictures

Insert a New Slide Click on Insert on top of screen Click on”New Slide”

Background Click on Format on the top of the screen Click on “Apply Design Template” Choose the background you want. Click on “Apply to all”

Animation Click on Slide Show at the top Click on Custom Animation Click on title one Set your animation
