Question Does the weight of a coin affect the amount of times it will land on heads if it is flipped off of the thumb and the index finger? Using United States coins.

Procedure Obtain a sample of each type of US coin ( Quarter, Dime, Nickel, Penny. Flip each coin 25 times and record the outcome either heads or tails Use data to complete a X² GOF – test use answers to write conclusion and make inferences.

Comments/ Concerns Strengths: All coins were U.S coins and weights given were based on government estimates of each coins. Weaknesses: Each person’s finger strength is different causing amounts of flips in the air to be different.

Conclusion At the.05 level with a p-value of.0653 we fail to reject our claim that the number of heads received when flipping each coin (quarter, dime, nickel, penny) will be the same. This means that the weight or size of each coin does not effect the outcome of the flip.
