Rationale for Knowledge Exchange Despite calls for evidence-based policy, gaps between worlds of research and decision-making Bridge via 2-way, active cooperation Some examples: CCL, Levin (OISE) Bolster research capacity by utilizing policy relevant admin data

Background: Sweet et al study Link records and survey of TDSB grade 9’s in 2000 to OUAC / OCAC records Examine post-high school pathways: drop out / graduation / post secondary application / institutional destination Key predictors: context, individual characteristics, academic performance

Our Knowledge Exchange Goals Showcase innovative data linking Researchers: apply similar methods to data from other boards; boost quality of useable data province-wide Decision-makers: use findings to inform interventions Data owners: develop protocols for wider usage of data
