CONDITIONAL STATEMENT Has a hypothesis and a conclusion. An IF-THEN STATEMENT is a conditional statement where the ‘if’ is the hypothesis and the ‘then’ is the conclusion. IF-THEN STATEMENTS are either TRUE or FALSE. If the statement is FALSE, solve it by providing a COUNTEREXAMPLE. If a number is positive, then its opposite is positive. FALSE; the number would be negative. If a number is a rational number, then the number is an integer. then the number is an integer. FALSE; 0.5 is an example of a rational number that is not an integer.
