3. CST Overview The CSTs assess achievement on the state’s academic content standards that specify what students are supposed to learn at each grade level. Scores are reported along five proficiency levels: Far Below Basic, Below Basic, Basic, Proficient, Advanced The state’s target is to have all students score at the Proficient or Advanced level.
