Row 1, Col 1 Mountains and plains are examples of this LANDFORMS

1,2 A protected place with deep water that allows ships to come close to the shore. HARBOR

1,3 What does plant life depend on? Climate and Soil

1,4 How do people adapt in a cold climate? Name two ways they adapt. The wear coats and use fuels to get energy for heat.

2,1 What is the world’s longest continuous mountain chain? The Andes Mountains

2,2 Natural resources such as oil, coal, and wood, to get energy for heat or electricity. FUELS

2,3 Roads and farms are examples of Human Features

2,4 Portland, Maine is one of the Largest fishing centers in the United States because of its-- Natural Harbor

3,1 Land that is surrounded by water on three sides is called a Peninsula

3,2 Kinds of lands are called-- LANDFORMS

3,3 Why are railroad tracks, bridges, and highways built? So people and goods can move from one place to another.

4,1 These are landforms that have steep sides and a flat top. PLATEAUS

4,2 Natural resources such as iron or gold MINERALS

4,3 Why are farms built? To provide people with food.

4,4 Name three ways people adapt to their environment. They wear special clothing, use fuels to heat or cool their home, build homes that allow breezes to pass through, and build homes with special insulation. People living near water and harbors use natural resources to make their living. People have found ways to change the physical features of where they live to create things they need. For example, tunnels are cut through mountains to build railroads. Canals are built to make it possible for ships to go from one location to another quickly.

5,1 Lowlands that lie between mountain ranges Valleys

5,2 Places with very dry climates DESERTS

5,3 All the physical features, human features, and conditions of a place make up-- An Environment

5,4 How do people adapt to the desert climate? (TWO WAYS) They wear light and loose clothing, use fuel to cool their homes, and wear sunscreen.
