2 Dear Community Leader: Greater Orlando Human Trafficking Task Force (GOHTTF), in partnership with Florida Abolitionist, is hosting the 8 th Annual Human Trafficking Awareness Day on Saturday, January 23 rd 2016 at the Walt Disney Amphitheater at Lake Eola. GOHTTF is a network of governmental and non-governmental agencies working together to end modern-day slavery and human trafficking in Central Florida. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has confirmed that many of the nation’s missing and exploited children are victims of this horrible crime. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children states that at least 2,200 children are reported missing daily in the United States. These children are at a high risk of becoming victims of predators and traffickers. Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery where people profit from the control and exploitation of persons through use of force, fraud or coercion for commercial sex and/or forced labor. In past years Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs, City of Orlando’s Mayor Buddy Dyer, and city commissioners issued proclamations against human trafficking. The events in the past have drawn over 6,000 attendees and featured 86 booths of agencies combating this crime in Central Florida. We expect at least 100 booths this year and 8,000+ attendees. There will also be expert speakers, testimonies, live artists, food, and a resource book of agencies from Central Florida providing information about their organizations and encouraging volunteerism. Our goal is to send a strong message that citizens of Central Florida will not tolerate the exploitation of its children, women and men. We are looking for sponsors and we need your help! Our goal for 2016 is to bring mass awareness of the human trafficking that is happening in Central Florida. There are several levels of sponsorship opportunities, which are attached. We look forward to partnering with you, as we stand together against this monstrous crime! Sincerely, Tomas J. Lares/Chairman 8th Annual Human Trafficking Awareness DayJanuary 23 rd 2016
