3 Hod did they use the land? Bonanza – large acre; specializing in cattle Sod Homes; windmills; threshers, etc. Boom Towns….Ghost Towns “Mother Earth”; Nomadic; follow the herd

4 How did their lives change in the late 1800’s? Loss of land and culture; reservation life Decreased number of “strikes”. Trouble with railroad prices and cycle of debt. Barbed wire makes cattle drive difficult.

5 Why would they have conflicts with others living in the frontier? Ownership of land;Fear of Indian attacks Different culture and values; loss of land “Wild West” vigilante culture Compete with farmers for political power
