1  Physical Description: What does it look like, smell like, sound like, feel like?

2  What is your creature’s habitat? Where does the creature live? What is its biome or environment? What other animals live around your creature?

3  Origins: Does the creature come from a certain part of the world, group of people, or culture? What is your creature’s legend or back story?

4  Strengths and weaknesses: Does your creature have any special powers, talents or abilities? What can harm or kill your creature?

5  What does your creature eat? What is its prey? Does it need anything special to survive?

6  Where in literature can your creature be found? For example, in books, magazines, folklore, news articles, poems, myths, etc.?

7  Does your creature make a particular sound (sing, scream, howl, etc.)? What purpose does the sound have (if there is a purpose)?

8  Does your creature have any humanlike qualities? If so, what are they?  Is your creature harmful to humans? How?

9  How does your creature defend itself?  What are its enemies and how would your creature win a battle with one of its enemies?

10  Is your creature positive (good), negative (bad) or neutral (it just exists… without being good or bad)?

11  Name a movie or TV show where this creature may be found. What is its role in the movie or show?

12  Besides movies and TV, are there any modern re- imaginings of your creature (in art, video games, music, products, comic books, YouTube, etc.)?

13  If there is a “modernized” version of your creature, how have they changed in Hollywood or fiction compared to the way they were portrayed initially?

14  Is there any new vocabulary connected to your creature? What about new definitions of existing words? (For example, “newborns” in the Twilight series refers to newly created vampires.)

15  What other questions did you think of that will help you find out more about your creature? What are you curious about and want to know about your creature?
