Recalibrating our Hearts to Jesus

Matthew 24 & 25

The Oil of Intimacy: Encountering the Bridegroom (Mt. 25) Parable of the Ten Bridesmaids Matthew 25:1-5 (NLT) 1 “Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten bridesmaids who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. 3 The five who were foolish didn’t take enough olive oil for their lamps,

The Oil of Intimacy: The Oil of Intimacy: Encountering the Bridegroom (Mt. 25) Parable of the Ten Bridesmaids Matthew 25:1-5 (NLT) 4 but the other five were wise enough to take along extra oil. 5 When the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

Matthew 25:6-9 (NLT) 6 “At midnight they were roused by the shout, ‘Look, the bridegroom is coming! Come out and meet him!’ 7 “All the bridesmaids got up and prepared their lamps.

Matthew 25:6-9 (NLT) 8 Then the five foolish ones asked the others, ‘Please give us some of your oil because our lamps are going out.’ 9 “But the others replied, ‘We don’t have enough for all of us. Go to a shop and buy some for yourselves.’

Matthew 25:10-11 (NLT) 10 But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked. 11 Later, when the other five bridesmaids returned, they stood outside, calling, ‘Lord! Lord! Open the door for us!’

Matthew 25:10-11 (NLT) 12 “But he called back, ‘Believe me, I don’t know you!’ 13 “So you, too, must keep watch! For you do not know the day or hour of my return”

Ten Virgins: Bridesmaids 2 Corinthians 11:2-3 (NIV) 2 I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him. 3 But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

Kingdom shall be like  Ten virgins – all are born again believers ( 2 Cor. 11:2-3 ).  Took their lamps – public ministry that brings God’s light shining to others  Went out to meet the Bridegroom – revelation of Jesus as the Bridegroom God  Then the Kingdom shall be likened to virgins meeting the Bridegroom – at the end-of-the- age.

Kingdom shall be like Jesus likened Himself to a Bridegroom (Mt. 9:15 ), His Kingdom to a wedding ( Mt. 22:2 ),described the ministry as those encountering Him as a Bridegroom ( Mt. 25:1 ) and will return for His Church with a bridal identity ( Rev. 22:17 )

The Oil of Intimacy This is a picture of End-Time ministry of believers with the revelation of Jesus as the Bridegroom. The foolish ministries or believers took their lamps ( ministries ), but took no oil.

The Oil of Intimacy In other words, they pursued ways to increase their ministry with the quality and wisdom of the lamp rather than to cultivate the ‘oil of intimacy.’ The wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps ( ministries ) as they pursued intimacy more than ministry.

Bridal paradigm: Bridal paradigm: invitation to intimacy with God (1 Cor. 2:9-12) 1 Corinthians 2:9-12 9 "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him." 10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches ( discerns ) all things, yes, the DEEP THINGS OF GOD…

Bridal paradigm: Bridal paradigm: invitation to intimacy with God (1 Cor. 2:9-12) 1 Corinthians 2:9-12 12 Now we have received…the Spirit who is from God, THAT WE MIGHT KNOW ( experience ) THE THINGS that have been freely given to us by God.

The Oil of Intimacy Holy Spirit is inviting us to enjoy intimacy with God by allowing us to experience the deep things of His heart. The Holy Spirit discerns the deep things of God’s heart ( His emotions ) that we might know or “experience” them.

The Oil of Intimacy God opens His heart wide that we would experience a lifestyle of active intimacy with His heart that energizes our heart with God’s power ( Eph. 3:16-19 ). This speaks of receiving the anointing of the Spirit to walk in 3-fold love ( anointing to receive God’s affection for us and to return it to Jesus with an overflow for others )

The Oil of Intimacy Amazing how many Believers have so little understanding of prayer, so much of what we know as prayer is need driven and not intimacy driven

The Oil of Intimacy Matthew 6:7-8 7 "And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. 8 "So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

The Oil of Intimacy “Prayer was never meant to be duty based or merely results oriented. It is primarily the place to encounter God” ~ Mike Bickle 1.Heart is changed 2.Filled with His Love 3.Truth 4.Maturity 5.Power

The Oil of Intimacy The ‘oil of intimacy’ speaks of cultivating our secret life in God. This results in our hearts being tenderized ( sensitized ) to freely feel ( receive ) more of God’s love and desire for us. Our spiritual capacity increases ( tenderized emotions to feel God ) as it enlarges our desire for Him and our revelation of God’s desire and beauty. It empowers our emotions with zeal for righteousness.

The Oil of Intimacy Matthew 25:9 But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.'

The Oil of Intimacy God ordained ‘kingdom order’ that no one can acquire the ‘oil of intimacy’ for another. Spiritual preparedness is not transferable. This ‘kingdom order’ is based on Jesus’ zeal for our love.

The Oil of Intimacy Matthew 25:5-6 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. 6 And at midnight a cry was heard: 'Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!'

The Oil of Intimacy 1.At midnight a cry was heard – dark midnight of history just before the Second Coming 2.A cry was heard, “Behold, the Bridegroom is coming” – forerunner messengers 3.Go out to meet Him – make the necessary effort to get up and go out to encounter Jesus

The Oil of Intimacy Matthew 25:13 Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

The Oil of Intimacy God’s delay is longer ( Matt. 25:5 ) than we expect causing some to lose their watchfulness due to three common issues ( mundaneness, pressures, temptations ). We overcome by encountering the Jesus as the Bridegroom. God’s delay is more challenging than we expect therefore, we have urgency to acquire ‘oil’ knowing it is difficult to stay prepared.

The Oil of Intimacy We can lose perspective by becoming focused more on our secondary blessings ( circumstances ). If we lose the ‘oil of intimacy’ then our heart gets wounded and burned out. Some of our wounds and disappointments are a signpost that our secondary rewards have become first place in our heart.

The Oil of Intimacy Some of our pain that results is designed to let us know that our heart must return back to the place where our focus is again on Jesus as our primary reward.

The Oil of Intimacy When Jesus is our primary reward, there is no guarantee that we will live pain free. However, when our spirit is invigorated by encountering Jesus, our disappointments are much more manageable in the grace of God because we see things differently. I have prayed, “Lord shock me now not at the Judgment Seat. Wake me up, even if You use the pain of disappointments.” ~ Mike Bickle

The Oil of Intimacy Our prayer life can only be sustained and energized by active intimacy with Jesus. God desires that we experience our greater reward ( inside of our heart ) as the way to sustain us while we wait on God’s blessing and power in outward circumstances.

The Oil of Intimacy 1.Our primary reward is the Lord, Himself, fascinating, and tenderizing our hearts. 2.Our secondary reward is the breakthrough of God’s blessing and power on our ministry, physical body ( healing ), family, finances, relationships, etc.

The Oil of Intimacy  The Holy Spirit is highlighting God’s plan to call the Church into her bridal identity and to buy for yourself oil so we are prepared for the great End-Time revival before the Bridegroom’s return.  Are you a wise or foolish bridesmaid?  Is your lamp burning brightly?

Fasting & Prayer Jan. 11-31 Matt.9:14-15 14 Then the disciples of John came to Him, asking, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast, but Your disciples do not fast?"

Fasting & Prayer Jan. 11-31 Matthew 9:14-15 15 And Jesus said to them, "The attendants of the bridegroom cannot mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them, can they? But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.

Daniel Fast Daniel 10:3 ( KJV ) I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.

Daniel Fast Daily prayer, scripture reading, prayer focus, but more importantly ( intimacy ), less media *Sunday prayer before service *Prayer & Worship night Saturday, Jan. 30 th @ 6pm

The End-Time Church will be in deep unity with the Holy Spirit in saying and doing what the Spirit is saying and doing. What is the Spirit doing? He is interceding for Jesus to come. What is the Spirit saying? He is revealing the Church’s bridal identity ( who we are as Jesus’ Bride ).

Revelation 22:17 ( NASB ) The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.”
