Caldecott Medal The Caldecott Medal is awarded to the illustrator of the most distinguished picture book published during the previous year. 1988 Caldecott Medal 2008 Caldecott Honor, 2008 Geisel Honor The award is given by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association.
