POLYCRYSTALLINE SOLAR PANELS “Energy of the Future”

PANEL PRODUCTION PROCESS Raw silicone formed into a block or “ingot” This block is then sliced into thin cells Each of these cells is printed on one side with a positive material and on the other side with a negative material Cells connected in series to create a panel Panels have the appearance of shattered glass Ex: 12 V panel @ 18 V = 36 cells connected in series with each cell producing 0.5 V

EFFICIENCY Cheaper per watt than mono-crystalline panels but less efficient Double the efficiency of amorphous panels but more expensive Polycrystalline = 13-15% efficient 3-5 years in energy payback (Study done by National Renewable Energy Lab in Golden, CO.) Efficiency = amount of power produced / size of panel
