1. Pollution Solution Collaboration To Do: –Grab a handout from the side counter. –Fold the sheet along the line between the “Prevention” and “Policy” columns. –Paste the sheet in your journal over two facing pages in the LAB section with the fold fitting into the seam of your journal. –Put away all glue sticks and scissors –Clear your desk of everything but a writing utensil, your journal, and your three posters from HW. –Spread out your posters picture side up on your desk.

2. Big picture Two main learning goals: –Learn a broad knowledge of what is being done about air pollution from peers –Analyze and evaluate most impactful and practical air pollution solution One outcome: –Write a letter to Ft. Collins city official with your individual recommendation of what can be done about air pollution in our community

4. SILENT GALLERY WALK Clear desk of everything but posters Show visual side ONLY TASK: record any thing that you notice, find interesting, agree with, might have argument against, etc.

5. Large group (15-20 min) Red cards: left side of room Black cards: right side of room 1.Each person pick one of your posters you view to be most impactful/important poster 2.Hand that poster to person on right 3.Make a first impression about the picture and study the facts on the back associated with it – be ready to share this topic with large group 4.Each person will share the topic one at a time (“This is _________, the main ideas about this are_________”) TASK: As you hear each topic, record notes, thoughts, ideas, questions in journal (No questions at this point…just listening)

6. Sub groups (15 min) Divide into suits Hearts: back right; Diamonds: back left; spades: front right; clubs: front left 1.Students take all 3 of their cards and share with group one at a time. 2.Share all prevention posters with group, move to policy, then to progress TASK: Discuss and record in your journal…begin to think about our own community

7. Small group (~10 min) Common numbers (1’s, 2’s, etc) Share notes about overall findings and summarize what you heard Focus on what may create a meaningful and practical impact on the Fort Collins community regarding air quality TASK: all voices heard, discussion about above

8. Take Action (~20 min) Individual – in seats Write a letter addressed to a City of Fort Collins City Official: –Introduction: Who are you? –Why are you writing? Explain your class work Address the problem –Outline some practical solutions –Thanks and closing DUE TODAY OR NEXT CLASS!!!!!
