1 Skateboarding Brands My favorite 4!

2 In 1997, Nike produced their own line of skate shoes, but were unable to sell to many specialist skate shops as the market was already strongly in favor of companies such as DC, Globe and Vans and Nike wasn't associated as a skateboarding brand among skateboarding community; heavily influenced by branding. In 2002, Nike came out with the SB brand. Nike SB Dunk Lows were released, with padded tongues and collars with the "Zoom Air" insoles and were more similar to their competitor's styles than their previous attempts. After the SB Dunk's mediocre sales, they released four other models. In 2004, Nike SB signed Paul Rodriguez as a figurehead to the brand. Shoe of choice: Janoskis

3 The Emerica skate shoes did not start with that name
The Emerica skate shoes did not start with that name. It was actually a shortened form of Etnies America, which were the first skate shoes that were actually owned and directed by a professional skater. It was Pierre André Senizergues, the professional freestyle skateboarder from France. Since the beginning of Emerica was actually the beginning of Etnies skate shoes and Etnies America we will start there. When Etnies skate shoes first started they where not sold in America. Rautureau Apple was the company that started the Etnies line, but it was not until Pierre André Senizergues started to distribute this line to the United States that the Etnies America became the first skate shoe brand that was actually owned and distributed by a pro. 4 In the year of 2004 the Fallen footwear was begun by Jamie Thomas the professional skater. Thomas was often referred to as "The Chief" and took part in what should have been the partnership between he and the DC shoes company. Unfortunately however, Quick Silver acquired DC shoes later the same year so Thomas finally made the decision that this project would be moved into his own company instead, they were called the Black Box Distribution. "Armee” had been the first choice in name for Jamie Thomas's new skate shoe, but the United States Army ruined that hope and instead, he decided to use the name Fallen, despite the negative sound to it. During their efforts in making their image that comes with Fallen have a negative impact, the company came up with a new design slogan. It was "Rise with the Fallen" or RxWxTxF. Thomas once said "The brand is a symbol of the quality and tradition that my footwear products have always stood for, Fallen Footwear is designed purely for skate boarding". And as our own Jamie Thomas, along with many other people happy people already know the Fallen footwear has what is considered to be the highest quality in skate shoes. Shoe of choice: Jamie Tomas's

5 On March 16, 1966, at 704 E. Broadway, in Anaheim, California, brothers Paul Van Doren, James Van Doren, and three other partners opened up their first store. The Van Doren Rubber Company was unique in that it manufactured shoes and sold them directly to the public. On that first morning, 12 customers purchased Vans deck shoes, which are now known as Authentic. The shoes that were made earlier that day were ready for pick-up in the afternoon. The company continued to grow into the 1970s. During this period they also produced wool lined canvas and rubber mukluks under contract to the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Air Force. Skateboarders who liked Vans rugged make-up and sticky sole were seen sporting Vans all over Southern California in the early 1970s. In 1975, the Vans #95, known today as the Era was designed by Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta. With a padded collar and different color combinations the Era became the shoe of choice for a generation of skateboarders due to the non slip bottom making it easier to grip better. In 1966, Vans introduced the #44 shoe, and with the help of skateboarders and BMX riders the Vans Slip-On became all the rage in Southern California. By the end of the 1970s, Vans had 70 stores in California and sold through dealers both nationally and internationally. Shoe of choice: The Era

DC Shoes is an American company that specializes in footwear for extreme sports, skateboarding, snowboarding as well as snowboards, shirts, jeans, hats, and jackets. The company was founded in 1993 by Ken Block and Damon Way, and is based in Vista, California. DC originally stood for "Droors Clothing", but since the sale of Droors Clothing (which is now defunct), DC no longer has ties to Droors and is simply DC Shoes. On March 8, 2004, DC Shoes was acquired by Quiksilver in an $87 Million USD transaction. DC Shoes moved from Vista, California to Quiksilver's headquarters in Huntington Beach in 2010. DC sponsors snowboarders, BMX riders, skateboarders, and more. The current skate team includes professionals Steve Berra, Chris Cole, Rob Dyrdek, Colin McKay, Josh Kalis, Nyjah Huston, Mikey Taylor, Mike Mo Capaldi, Matt Miller, Wes Kremer, and Danny Way, and amateurs Evan Smith, Davis Torgerson, Marquise Henry and Felipe Gustavo. In fall 2010, DC Shoes launched their DC LIFE collection, a collection of fashion, music and art-inspired footwear.
