POINT Data for Data Talks Instructions for accessing information And what must be included in Power Point

Data Talk Presentation – General Information Select one Unit (skill, concept) for presentation. Assessment can be typical test, quiz, project, presentation, ect… MUST have pre score and post score for selected unit/skill SLO courses can chose to use Pre-SLO data for pre-test score and teacher created Unit assessment for post test Milestone courses need either a diagnostic or a unit pre-test IF you have multiple subjects (or levels of same subject) each group will need minimum of 5 slides. Example presentation after instructions. Example: 5 slides for Physical Science, 5 slides for Chemistry, 5 slides for Honors Chem IF multiple levels of a subject take same assessment you can combine the information for presentation Work back wards Find the standards that correspond to your Unit test /Post Test Select same standards on Pre test [might be SLO, Diagnostic, or other pre assessment]

Data Talk Presentation – MUST HAVES Slide 1: Teacher Name, Subject, Periods Slide 2: Specific Standards or Elements with pretest data Slide 3: will need total number of students for Pre Assessment and Post Assessment Number of students who met standard [In POINT = Exceeds + Meets+ Progressing] Number of students who did not meet standard [In POINT = Emerging + critical Need] Will need names of students who did not meet standard POST ASSESSMENT ONLY[Emerging + Critical need] Can use data table or graph to present numbers Slide 4: Interventions used for students who did not meet standard Slide 5: Results of interventions You can include extra relevant information or split information into multiple slides if necessary.

Getting Data from POINT There are two main was to get your test data from point. 1 st method Use this if you have multiple periods with same subject as POINT will give you totals. 2 nd method Use this if there is only one period associated with a particular subject BUT If you have gifted and non gifted rosters you will need to add the numbers from POINT for gifted and non-gifted students together for a particular period. 

Look for notes and red arrow. Follow arrows and screen shots Acquiring data METHOD 1 multiple periods same subject/assessment

From Home Screen Click REPORTS under My Classroom Acquiring data METHOD 1 multiple periods same subject/assessment

Select Course *Can do same subjects by period or together by selecting “All Sections” for that course Acquiring data METHOD 1 multiple periods same subject/assessment

You will initially see all assessments. You can limit choices by selecting you subject and/or grade. Then click filter Acquiring data METHOD 1 multiple periods same subject/assessment

Click the arrow head by the test that you want data from Acquiring data METHOD 1 multiple periods same subject/assessment

A new screen will pop up. Click Standards Mastery Acquiring data METHOD 1 multiple periods same subject/assessment

You will need to scroll down to see the standards. Acquiring data METHOD 1 multiple periods same subject/assessment Add up Exceeds, Meets, Progressing to get # of students who met standard. Add up Emerging and Critical Need to get # of students who did not meet standard.

Scroll down to see specific data for each standard on that assessment. At top of screen you can export to PFD to save DATA or copy directly into EXCELL/POWER POINT Click the blue number beside a specific standard to see a list of students that fell into each category. Acquiring data METHOD 1 multiple periods same subject/assessment

The names listed when you click the blue number only relate to that specific standard. You will need to click back arrow then click on a blue number for the other standards for that assessment Acquiring data METHOD 1 multiple periods same subject/assessment

Look for notes and red arrow. Follow Arrows and screen shots Acquiring data METHOD 2 single periods same subject/assessment NOTE if METHOD 1 is not working properly try this method

Select the period under “Section” near center of the screen. Once screen refreshes scroll down Acquiring data METHOD 2 single periods same subject/assessment

Depending on assessment you may need to select the “District and Local Test” tab or the Classroom Test tab in order for your data to come up. Acquiring data METHOD 2 single periods same subject/assessment Once you see the data verify that the test you want is showing.

Acquiring data METHOD 2 single periods same subject/assessment Then click standards mastery
