What is the SPOT HEALING brush? The spot healing brush tool is similar to the clone, but “smart” enough to automatically find the clone source. Shortcut: J. Spot Healing Brush Tool

How do I use the SPOT HEALING brush? 1. Select Brush Settings 2. Choose a blending mode (optional) 3. Choose whether to sample all layers 4. Specify a healing method 5. Apply the Spot healing brush

When should I use the SPOT HEALING brush? Best for scratches, tears or blemishes. Use strokes or on specific spots, by clicking and releasing. You will initially see a dark streak appear over the area—DO NOT PANIC! Photoshop is calculating the clone and will display the correct pixels shortly. Reapply if further correction needed.

When should I use the HEALING brush? Works the same as spot healing. Requires you to first sample a specific part of the image for cloning. Hold ALT to sample, then begin painting.

EXERCISE: Open the wrinkles.jpg. Save as: yourname_wrinkles.psd Remove the cigarette. Create a new layer and select the spot healing brush. Make sure to use SAMPLE ALL LAYERS. Adjust the layer opacity if needed when done. Due: today.
