Adding ‘ing’ to verbs with a long vowel sound. It is easy to add ‘ing’ onto a verb with a long vowel sound. Here are some examples: see + ing = seeing eat + ing = eating look + ing = looking go + ing = going saying say + ing = Can you think of any more? BACK

Adding ‘ing’ to verbs with a short vowel sound. If the word has a short vowel, then you must add a double letter before the ‘ing’.
