Project Description Interventional Imaging Hybrid Theatre (IIHT) primarily for vascular surgery Multifunctional facility with flexibility for other open surgery procedures and advanced radiology procedures Redevelopment of part of the existing operating theatres suite Providing the hospital with a state of the art operating environment $4.5m of capital funds (preliminary estimate)

Interventional Imaging Hybrid Theatre Operating theatre combining advanced high definition imaging technology and capability with complete open surgery operating theatre facilities Features include: C-arm with high resolution fluoroscopic imaging equipment High resolution digital image display and recording Integrated ultrasound Advanced multi-purpose Maquet Type Operating Table Ceiling mounted pendant services, point of care storage Control and viewing room Scrub room, induction room, set up room, automatic doors Could be described as cath lab on steroids.

Prime Project Drivers / Objectives Growth in demand for surgical treatment for vascular diseases – diabetes, obesity, ageing Improving quality of care, retaining service and education Overcome present significant deficiencies in the vascular surgery facilities Overdue technology upgrade to implement proven advances in endoluminal technology

Preliminary Business Case Findings / Conclusions Capital costs $4.5m initially equipment upgrade in year 10 and replacement in year 16 Recurrent costs consumables: significant increase in consumables – catheters, stents and grafts staffing: increased radiologist numbers otherwise minimal change Benefits reduced ALOS and better patient outcomes reduced theatre times reduced multiple interventions improved capacity
