4 Do you know what good attendance is?
This is Simon. He is in Year 10 and has 90% attendance. Is that good? What does this mean?

5 90% attendance is… Half a day missed every week!
Nearly four whole weeks of lessons missed in a school year! Half a school year missed over five years!

7 What impact might this have on Simon’s life?
Research shows that if Simon misses 17 school days a year his GCSE grade will DROP! (DfES) The better your attendance the better you’ll do!

8 The better you do at school the more you can earn in the future
This can lead to a better standard of living with: A good job A big house A great car Great holidays

9 If you are worried or anxious about going to school what should you do?
Talk to your friends Talk to a peer mediator Talk to your mum or dad Talk to a teacher Talk to another member of school staff. They can listen and support you!

10 Keep your attendance above 95% and achieve your full potential!
