Calcium in Cows Justin H.

Amount of calcium I quickly learned that heavily milked cows are fed/given extra calcium to strengthen their overall health. Calcium is stored in the cows bones, and is put into their circulatory system. But I eventually learned that calcium intake did not do anything to the milk.

Why calcium?

Effects If fed more calcium – Cows will be stronger overall – Cows will produce more milk – Milk produced could have proportions thrown off If fed less calcium – Cow is not very healthy – Milk produced could be dangerous to consume

What is the best milk to drink? Every milk has certain benefits and disadvantages. The milks I have researched include; Skim, 1%, Almond, Soy, and Fat free

Milk Benefits Skim Milk – Skim milk has more calcium, vitamin A, phosphorus, vitamin D, and vitamin B12 than regular 2% milk. Studies have shown that skim milk makes people fell more full, while only having.5% fat. Skim milk is one of the best options for weight loss. Fat Free – Fat free milk is very similar to skim milk but has 0% fat instead of.5% fat.

Milk Benefits Continued 1% Milk - 1% milk is milk that has been slightly processed to remove some fat. This milk is best for people that like the taste of milk but don’t want all of the fat. Almond Milk – Almond milk is very rich in vitamins. There is no cholesterol in this milk. This milk is best for people that are worried about diseases in regular milk, vegans, vegetarians, or people that are lactose intolerant.

Milk Benefits Continued Soy Milk – Soy milk is artificial milk that is very similar to real milk. Soy milk is for people that don’t mind that their milk is extremely processed, and like the taste. Organic milk – Organic milk is milk that has been milked from organic methods. This means that it is from a cow with certain specifications. This milk is good for people that like real milk.
