3 Notes: Speeches  Speech: nonfiction work that is delivered orally to an audience  Political Speech: Focuses on an issue relating to government of politics. Usually, the speaker is trying to persuade people to think or act in a certain way.  An Address: A formal speech that is prepared for a special occasion.  A Sermon: A speech this is usually based on a scriptural text and is intended to provide religious instruction.
