FOR TRAINING USE ONLY Honor – Duty – Respect Training Objective Tasks: –Identify common stereotypes & consequences –Explain how different types of loyalties co-exist –Articulate personal values and discuss strategies for maintaining those values Condition: 50-minute classroom training session Standard: Successful completion of Ethics in Action post-test and required essay 2

FOR TRAINING USE ONLY Honor – Duty – Respect Activity: Stereotypes In small groups, then as a whole, list examples of stereotypes for these groups: Northern/Southern Athlete/Non-Athlete Male/Female Gay/Straight Fat/Skinny Disabled Middle Eastern 6 What are the consequences of stereotypes in the barracks? How do stereotypes fit with or contradict your own values?

FOR TRAINING USE ONLY Honor – Duty – Respect Applicability to Post-Graduation Life Stereotypes exist in the barracks, but we can choose not to act on them. Loyalties to yourself, your company, and the college can co-exist. Know your limits. Personal values/identity can evolve as you grow. It is normal to feel conflicted. 7
