Standard 14. Professional Practice Evaluation The registered nurse evaluates her or his own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules, and regulations.

Evaluation of Professional Practice The process of determining the progress toward attainment of expected outcomes, including the effectiveness of care. Purpose: Take professional responsibility and accountability. Collect data on performance. Compare with professional standards of practice and care. Make decisions on opportunities for growth. Make decisions on professional development.
