Challenges Collection of evidence on the Parent Geographic distance of the placement – distance between Parents and Child Myth busting about Parents are “bad” or Foster Parents are “bad” Support to Parents that they have to sit in a meeting with all these people who may judge them If Children move between Providers If Caseworker changes Violence – ensuring safety Pre-service training for Foster Parents is very focused on the Child – how do we include the needs of the Parent as well. Transition of services and goals; service types when there is placement changes. Goals remain the same but the strategies will be updated. IMPACT Legal plan review timelines versus Minimum Standards Attorneys agreeing for their clients to participate in the meeting (especially if there are criminal charges) Who is at the table? Multiple Providers for Parents/Children Author of the plan/Owner of the plan Confidentiality – HIPPA concerns over using Skype What is the format of the combined plan? Length of time to review Logistics of the meeting Willing to look at what kind of waivers necessary to have meeting in the Foster Parent home – Minimum Standards related to this Need for buy in from 300+ Providers Technology / data bases used by the Providers 8
