8. The success of small group strategy teaching depends on the ability of the rest of the class to engage productively in independent activities. Children need to be aware of the learning outcomes for these activities. Social skills to play the games effectively need to be taught. Spending time establishing routines, systems and expectations during the first few weeks is crucial.
