1 Working With HERO Brian Kelly, UKOLN Sarah Austin, Epic Quentin North, Epic UKOLN is funded by Resource: The Council for Museums, Archives and Libraries, the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) of the Higher and Further Education Funding Councils, as well as by project funding from the JISC and the European Union. UKOLN also receives support from the University of Bath where it is based. 4 4 The HERO TAG Background: HE Mall meeting for Web Managers on 17 June 1999 attracts 40+ Brian Kelly asked to join Steering Group to represent Web Managers interests Following award of tender to EPIC Web Manager focus group formed to review HERO's technical architecture and information flow models Focus group renamed HERO Technical Advisory Group at meeting on 2 June 2000 Members: Colin Work (Southampton), Gareth McAleese (Ulster), Helen Sargan (Cambridge), Damon Querry (Newcastle), Andrew Savory (UEA), Matt Cownie (NHM), Brian Kelly (UKOLN) and Chris Harris (HERO)

5 5 Our Main Interests Due to short timescales, HERO-TAG is focussing efforts on 3 key areas: The Information Flow Model How should institutions provide data to HERO The Classification Scheme What subject classification scheme should be employed to support user navigation of the Web site Reviewing HERO's Software and Hardware Infrastructure Commenting on EPIC's proposed hardware and software infrastructure
