Cell Processes Test Corrections & Essay Notes December 2015 Life Science & AC Life Science
2
#18 and #32 - Organelles Cytoplasm fill the inside of a cell; most organelles found here More mitochondria = more energy producers for cell; site of cell respiration
3
#24, #27, #35, and #39 Organelles Eukaryotic cells = have a nucleus, complex, lots of part, all cells except bacteria Prokaryotic cells = do not have a nucleus, simple, bacteria only Cellular respiration takes place in the mitochondria in eukaryotic cells Plant cells have chloroplast & cell walls All cells have DNA even if they don’t have a nucleus All cells have a cell membrane
4
#6, #9, and #17 – Cell Transport Cell is always active Equilibrium = balanced, even, spread throughout; particles enter and leave at the same rate Low to high movement of particles = active, needs energy High to low movement of particles = passive, no energy needed Loss or gain of water through cell membrane = osmosis
5
#20 – Cell Transport Cell transport of oxygen from high concentration in lungs to low concentration in blood cell = diffusion
6
#1, #4 and #26 – Energy Cycle Photosynthesis needs raw materials = CO 2 and water Energy as sunlight is also needed to start photosynthesis Photosynthesis produces = O 2, water and glucose (sugar, food) Respiration needs raw materials = food & O 2 Respiration produces = energy (ATP, Adenosine Triphosphate)
7
#36 – Energy Cycle Photosynthesis Water + CO 2 + sunlightO 2 + water + glucose (food)
8
#25 & #31 - Respiration Fermentation is a type of respiration that does not need oxygen
9
#37 & 38 – Cell Cycle #37 Interphase (longest phase, grow, develop, copy DNA), Mitosis, Cytokinesis #38 Telophase = telephone wires, pull apart
10
Test Corrections Essay Highlight all vocabulary terms in the test correction notes. Write a question that needs an extended answer (not a yes/no question) for cell processes. Answer the question in at least 3 paragraphs. (A paragraph is at least 5 complete sentences.) Use at least 10 of the vocabulary terms in your essay.
