Satire What is the difference between Horatian Satire and Juvenalian Satire? Writer’s of satire often employ irony. What are the three types of irony? What is the effect if a text intended to be ironic is not taken as such by it’s audience?

Persona Persona is a voice or ma mask that an author, speaker, or performer assumes for a particular purpose. In satire, authors often adopt a persona to convey a perspective different from his or her own in order to make a point. Can you think of any examples?

Let’s Hear It for the Cheerleaders Where do you see caricature? How is dramatic irony used in the first 2 paragraphs? Why does the author do this? What does the author parody several times? Is this an example of Horatian or Juvenalian satire? What are some characteristics of the author’s persona?
