Introduction: Engineering Work Bench (EWB) Version 1.0, the tool which is designed and developed by Flextronics, is used to validate the Approved Manufacturer’s List (AML) for the Bill of Materials supplied by the customer. The main intend of this document is to give, the user a clear and concrete picture/instructions on ‘HOW-TO’ use this tool effectively. Engineering Work Bench (eWB 1.0)

Project Screen Project screen will have list of projects that were initiated by various users. Desired projects could be identified with the unique Project ID along with the other vital details. Project Dash Board – Project Detail Screen Project Dashboard will have all the necessary information about our project. It has three tabs, Project Details, Item Details and Comment History. Change Analyst CA

Project Dash Board At a given point of time, all the users irrespectve of the role can export the AML details to the local folder. This can be done in two ways,one,Simple export and the other, Agile formatted export Change Analyst CA Step1: Select the AML by checking the box Step2: Select the desired export, this case select Simple Export Step3: Click ‘Apply’ to export the list to the local folder.

Project Dash Board – Simple / Agile Formatted Export Change Analyst CA Click ‘Open’ or ‘Save’ depending on the requirement. Same procedure has to be followed to export the AML’s in Agile format.

Project Details Screen This option lists the items which were recently opened When ‘Assigned’ is selected, it will direct to the all the items which were assigned to component engineer. TO view the items which involves NEW PART REQUEST, this option has to be selected. Pending Approval lists the items which were completed by CE and that has to be approved by PL Click or select,’Completed’ to view the completed items. Click here to get the list of validated items. Item Details Screen Click this button to get the AML Details Check this box to continue with the action selected in the ‘Action’ Combo Box After selecting the item by checking the check box, click here to view the AML pertaining to the selected row. Project Lead PL Once a project is created by CA, the PL will get an email notification on the assigned project. This email will have the basic details of the project. Click here to go to the Project Homepage.

Click here to assign the items to the component engineer or group. Once the project is selected, it lists the vital information about the project. Project Lead PL Submit to site Project Lead should also review the parts associated by CE,after the review PL should submit the item for site approval or even bye pass the site approval. Step 1: select the ‘Assigned’ option. Step 2: Select the Item Number for further action. Step 3: Select ‘Submit to site’ or ‘Bypass site approval’ according to the nature of the item.

Step4: Click the ‘View Attributes’ option to check the attributes and its value for the item. Step3: Click the ‘View Alternates’ option to check the alternate for the existing MPN. AML Validation for items assigned by PL Component Engineer CE Step2:Search the catalog by the item description. Wild character search is allowed to facilitate the catalog search. Step1:Hover over the item number to get the list of available AML for the selected item. Step1 :Verify whether the alternate MPID is relevant. If it is relevant select the alternate and associate with the item. Step2:Select the alternate if it is suitable. Step3:Associate with the item.

AML Validation for items assigned by PL Component Engineer CE Step1:Select the appropriate AML by checking the box Step 2: Click the ‘Associate’ button to link the AML with the Item. Once the AML s reviewed with alternates and attributes, the appropriate AML should be associated with the item.

AML Validation for items assigned by PL Once the parts assignment is done, a pop-up will raise confirming the successful parts association. This could be acknowledged by clicking the OK, this is send the AML validation process for site approval. New Product Request (NPR) If there is no match for the item in the parts catalog, a New Product Request has to be raised. This process initiate the integration with the windchill to create NPR. Subsequent slides explains the process in detail. Component Engineer CE

To check the correctness of the approval status, click ‘Show All Items’ in the AML Item Status combo box. The ‘Rejected’ and the ‘Approved’ status can be viewed in the AML Item Status column.
