4 Building Stronger Neighborhoods Enhancing our bike and pedestrian network helps build community Neighborhood Revatilization Program targets low-income neighborhoods and provides ongoing support to help address issues COPE creates neighborhood networks, communication and emergency preparedness Neighborhood Clean up projects

5 Educational Opportunities Coordinated program with Hispanic Chamber where ESL students learn how to use computers and then get one for free at the end of the class. Save Green Go Green: promoting the importance of weatherization Green Construction and Design Academy at Montgomery High School Green Building curriculum at SRJC Green Building and Sustainability at SSU

6 Promoting Healthy Lifestyles Supporting community gardens Bike and Ped projects: Humboldt St. Bike Blvd, Mendocino Ave Bike Lanes, Safe Safe Routes to School NRP has developed walking exercise programs Restoring Creeks and encouraging their use to recreate, de-stress, exercise

7 Leaving a Green Footprint Complete Streets Weatherization Assistance Program with Hispanic Chamber to retrofit low income homes Installing electric vehicle charges citywide Enhancing our transit system Intelligent Transportation System Solar/environmental projects

8 Committed Policy Makers Establishing the Mayors Task Force on Sustainability – Involving the community to expand solar systems, energy and water conservation retrofits, build neighborhoods and make lifestyle changes to reduce greenhouse gas emissions

9 What do we want? A Sustainable Community for All Transit-oriented development Building “Complete Neighborhoods” – locating jobs and services within walking or bicycling distance of neighborhoods

10 What do we want? Be the “Green” Center for Northern California Attract more green technology businesses Promote solar resources for the community: DOE grant to Solar Sonoma County – goal is to place 25 megawatts of solar energy generation on land and rooftops and for solar thermal hot water.

11 What do we need? Funding Partnerships with business, local nonprofits, neighborhoods Trained and educated workers committed to this field
