Clinical Working Group Update The Query Health Use Case consensus voting period is now open! Please cast your vote by COB (8:00 PM) Tuesday, November 15 th. If you vote yes with comments or no please plan on attending the 11/16 Clinical WG to discuss with the working group members Sign up to participate in the CIM and Concept to Codes activities by visiting the Clinical WG homepage Next Steps: Review yes with comments and no votes during the 11/16 working group meeting Kick Off CIM activities

Operations Working Group November 15, 2011

Finalized Operational Requirements for the Expanded Analysis Use Case Discussed the 11/17 meeting which will feature a discussion with Summer Concert Series presenters Determine priorities and key outputs for the Operations Workgroup based on ‘need’ as determined by experts Key Topics Covered/Discussed

Operations Workgroup Next Steps Next Steps –Hold a discussion with select Summer Concert Series presenters to identify work products that would be helpful –Develop Model Data Use Agreements –Brainstorm additional Policy Sandbox recommendations for pilots

Technical Working Group November 15, 2011

Technical WG Update Next Technical WG F2F on 11/28 – 11/29/2011 Purpose: To solidify the details of the Query Health technical foundation and start creating a roadmap for recommending standards and creating a robust reference implementation. Scheduled for 11/29/2011 8am – 5pm 425, 3 rd Street SW, Suite 600 Capitol View Building, Washington D.C - 20024 Expect participants to fly in on 11/28, conference room available on 11/28/2011, in case we want to have any meetings.

Technical WG F2F Agenda TopicTime Slot Technical Foundation Proof of Concept – Running Code + Code-a-thon to work towards running code (Includes any necessary discussions to get it working) 8am – 11am Discuss Query Envelope and Transport (Query/Results standards and services based on running code) 11am – 12noon Lunch12noon – 1pm Discuss CIM Model Realization Approach and Query / Result representation against CIM - CIM Data Model - Query/Result Representation against CIM 1pm – 3pm Discussion to map applicable Standards to Running Code 3:15 – 4:30 pm Wrap up4:30 pm – 5pm

Proof Of Concept Update Proof Of Concepts Page: http://wiki.siframework.org/Query+Health+Proof+of+Concepts - PopMedNet, i2B2 and hQuery POC http://wiki.siframework.org/PopMedNet+i2B2+and+hQuery+POC - DIRECT and FlatFile based Approach http://wiki.siframework.org/Query+Health+DIRECT+and+FlatFile+base d+POChttp://wiki.siframework.org/Query+Health+DIRECT+and+FlatFile+base d+POC Please sign up on the wiki pages if you wish to participate actively in the proof of concepts or propose a new proof of concept and lead it.

POC Standards Focus Areas Standards AreasPurpose 1. First Layer of standardsDeliver generic queries and results between requestors and responders and focus on the envelope requirements. 2. Second Layer of standards Query Expressions and formats against an Clinical Information Model that is realized (e.g SQL query vs a STAR schema, or JSON query on a JSON object) – Objective is to pick one representation to move forward with. 3. Third Layer of standardsEdge protocols to integrate existing standards and EMR’s such as C32, CCR, QRDA Importers to convert to CIM, HQMF translator s if required 1 2 2 3 3

Query Analysis Updates http://wiki.siframework.org/Query+Health+-+Query+and+Data+Model+Analysis hQuery Approach by Marc Hadley Presented the approach to represent Quality Measure type queries using JSON methodology in an elegant fashion Demonstrates pervasive web technologies to be used for query representations Standards Approach by Keith Boone Presented the approach to represent Quality Measure type queries using HQMF/EMF standards based XML Converted Standards XML to hQuery Java Script representation Demonstrates how to extend Query Health and overlay standards on top of the technology choices

Next Steps Register for F2F on 11/29 Register for Proof of Concept teams Participate and help in creating the various proof of concepts Demonstration by Stephen Beller of the DIRECT + Flatfile based approach Query Analysis Complete Query Analysis and help implement the queries in the proof of concepts

Focus on : What do real-world distributed query implementations and pilots need? –They need a foundation to work off of (use case, technical, and operational) –They need to stay within reasonable scope (top 1-2% for challenging domains, reuse where aligned) –They need to leverage “those who have already done” Scope to : What areas can the Clinical Workgroup support? –Drawing from use case data elements (defined at the clinical level) –A harmonized, “clinical” data dictionary and query syntax –A data model and documentation for pilots to use –A clinical concept mapping approach with clear guidance and examples –Alignment to Query Health Technical Foundation and Pilot Best Practice considerations Upcoming Activities for Clinical Working Group

Getting to a Query Health “CIM”

Adding Clinical Concept Mapping Approach “Guidance”

Important Announcements Clinical Workgroup Activities underway Clinical Information Model (CIM) Clinical Concept Mapping Query Health Training - ONC All Grantees Meeting Query Health will be conducting a training session for ONC grantees at the ONC All Grantees Meeting on November 18 th in Washington DC Rich Elmore will be presenting from 10:30 – 12:00 PM, along with co-presenters Erik Pupo, Merideth Vida, Dragon Bashyam and Alice Leiter
