1 Thursday, January 22, 2015 Castle Learning Week #21 Aim: Review concepts for the Earth Science Mid-Term Objective: You will review rocks, minerals, maps and surface processes for the mid-term. Do Now: List and describe several features associated with glacial activity.

2 Drumlin Streamlined hills of glacial till – drumlins indicate the direction of glacial movement.

3 Esker Deposits from rivers of glacial meltwater within/under the glacier.

4 Erratic Large boulders deposited randomly across a landscape.

5 Glacial Erosion Sediment transported by moving glaciers. Carved the landscape of the Hudson Valley; Striations, U-Shaped valleys

6 Kettle Hole/depression formed when a glacier remains in one spot and melts.

7 Outwash Deposition of sediments formed from the meltwaters of a glacier. Sediment is sorted by size, shape and density.

8 Striation Scratches on the bedrock from passing glaciers.
