Communicate in Today’s World Speak Your Prospects Language

The way that we communicate has changed so rapidly over the last 25 years Cellular Phones led to the IBM PDA…which was the first basic “smartphone” offered in 1992 It is the Black Berry incorporating email services and basic internet use that started the “Smartphone” revolution in 2002 The release of the iPhone in 2007 and Android driven devices in 2008 sparked the full on take over of the Mobile World

The thing is….It’s Not just about the phone Yes we use our phone to communicate with others directly 90% of Americans have a cell Phone 81% send and receive text messages But we also use them to find what ever it is we are looking for 76% of smartphone users access internet services to research products or services

Here’s the thing –

Facebook says that 78% of US Active Users use the Mobile App, and 30% only use Facebook on their Mobile device The average Mobile user spends 40 minutes a day on Facebook

People are doing everything in the palm of their hand But you don’t have to “blow their phone up” to get there Use what you know about layers in ways you know you are in your targets hand

Most smart phone users send and receive emails on their smart phones How many of you do? Make sure your emails are “mobile friendly” If you send videos make sure to use YouTube or a “mobile friendly” player If you send links to landing pages, make sure they are Mobile Friendly

If you are sending things like flyers Make sure to send them in “cloud” links Google Drive or DropBox That helps the receiver retrieve the flyer easier The subject line is the most important factor We typically scan our email on our phones….we need a “reason” to open it

Use subjectline.com

These days connecting with someone on the various social networks helps put you in your targets palm Twitter, Instagram, continue to be amazing mobile social networks Facebook mobile use is every bit as powerful and steady as it’s desk top version Post those videos, landing pages and flyer to Facebook, or Tweet out your invite to followers Share images on Instagram of your Flyers or live from your presentations

You may not be in your targets palm every time But if you are consistent you will be some of the time Layer your emails and social posts with some well timed Text Messages

Text the link to your invitations a day or two after your email it “In case you missed it. Here is the link to save your spot for this weeks class www.xxx.com”www.xxx.com Text reminders to your partners that you are available if they need any help “Just a reminder… If you’re working, I’m working. Call or text if you need a pre-approval or any help.”

Text client prospects to let them know you are there to help “If you are out house hunting this weekend and need any help or a pre-approval for negotiating, don’t hesitate to call. I am available all weekend.” Use the words “Call or Text” in your closing statements and on signature lines

Best of all Call them on their cell phone numbers whenever possible Most people use their cell phone numbers for most cases When you meet a new target or prospect and ask for their number, pull out your phone and bring up your contacts to enter it (then they have to give their cell number) On the phone with a new prospect or partner say “Text me your number…or I’ll text you my number so it’s in your phone”.

This is the common way people communicate now Their Mobile Device (no longer a cell phone) Be inventive in how you get to your targets

We were doing it wrong 3, 2, 1 year ago we were going about the text for information all wrong Someone would text and we would call that phone number to follow up thinking we were doing the right thing We did not communicate with them the way they wanted to communicate

Use Text for more information in todays world 4 years ago only 60% of people said they use their phones for sending and receiving texts Today that is 80% What we did was call to follow up What we should have done is text a follow up

Text a message back: “I see you are interested in the home for sale at 123 Easy St. I am Paul Baxter with Leader1 Financial and help Sally Agent with Realty Realtors. Just want you to know I am here to answer any questions you may have about this or any other home you are looking at. Does this home fit within the budget you have set for buying a home?” Guess what…if they don’t reply, they weren’t going to answer your call anyway If they do reply it is a chance to start a conversation

If they answer and continue the conversation Keep texting with them It is how people communicate in todays world We are constantly connected by our devices It’s time we use this knowledge to our advantage
